This opportunity is a fly-in, fly-out position with shifts starting immediately. Flight hubs to/from Fort McMurray are located in Calgary and Edmonton, with the option for bussing also offered. Camp accommodation is provided for all staff.

Join FLINT as a Heavy Equipment Technician and be part of a dynamic and thriving team. As a Heavy Equipment Technician, you'll play a crucial role in our operations. You will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment. Your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will be essential in ensuring our equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
- Inspect and examine equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions.
- Use hand and power tools to perform repairs, test repaired equipment for proper performance, and ensure that the work meets manufacturers' specifications and legislated regulations.
- Read and understand work orders, prepare estimates and interpret technical manuals.
- Large-scale overhauls and rebuilds.
- Relocate/operate heavy equipment to move it within the shop area.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other preventative maintenance work.
- Equipment and facility continuous improvements.
- Interface with customers, products and sales support.
- Provide support with reference to on-site safety requirements.
- Write technical reports and complete paperwork as required.
- Ensure that safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed.
- Work on equipment such as CAT 797 D & F, Liebherr T284 C, Komatsu 930E, CAT 793 C & D, CAT 777, CAT 785, Hitachi 5000, and engines like Cummins, CAT, or MTU4000.
Requirements
Does this sound like you?
- Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certification-Off Road required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician.
- Large off-highway Caterpillar, Liebherr, Komatsu and/or Hitachi mining equipment experience would be considered an asset.
- Oil Sands or sizeable open pit mining equipment experience would be considered an asset.
- Specialize in fuel pumps and injectors, track equipment, engine overhaul, hydraulic controls, power shift transmissions, and allied equipment.
- Computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, are essential.
- Dedicated to safety.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals.
- Safety tickets required: CSO, Fall Protection and AWP.
- Proficient in English, both written and verbal communication required.
- Physically capable of performing all necessary duties of the job, including but not limited to heavy pulling, pushing and lifting (up to 50 lbs.), climbing, shoveling, bending, twisting, etc.

- Total compensation for this position is $72.91/hour.
- Benefits after 300 hours.

This position has been identified as a safety-sensitive position and will require completion of drug and alcohol testing.
Mask Fit will be required, and you will be requested to be clean-shaven.
